The flow of various kinds of bulk solids such as such as granulate, dust, slag, sand, ash, sugar or powder follows other laws than those of fluids. The fittings used for this purpose should not have any dead spots and when selecting them, it should be considered whether the conveyed goods are suitable for bridge building. Grain size and form, temperature and the way they are conveyed play an important part. If necessary, the fittings have to be particularly wear and tear resistant, especially their sealed parts.
