Ball segment valve, MC-series
“The ball segment valves in the MC series are mainly used as control valves for medium consistency pulp.
They are typically installed downstream of the MC pump.
The outlet flange is larger than the input flange and the ball segment with a V-groove is designed to protect against dewatering in the case of small opening angles.”
Bottom valve
“The Somas bottom outlet valve KVBW / KVBF is a ball segment valve that can be mounted directly on the bottom of tanks. This design minimises the distance between the ball segment and the bottom of the tank.
Design:
Type KVBW: Wafer design
Type KVBF: Flanged design.”
Flächengewichtsventil
The Somas ball segment valves type KVTW / KVTF are basis weight valves with a special seat for low torque requirements and offered in combination with a step motor as an accurate control valve. The control valve unit consists of a balanced valve with a drive and control element.
The Somas basis weight valve is used in the paper industry.
Low noise ball segment valve
Somas ball segment valves type KVTW LN (KVTF LN) with a centrically mounted shaft and KVXW LN (KVXF LN) with an eccentrically mounted shaft were developed to reduce noise levels.
The reduction in the noise level is achieved by the installation of a noise-reducing device. The noise-reducing device is mounted behind the ball segment and consists of several steel rods in a specific arrangement. These steel rods distribute the pressure drop over several stages. This reduces the noise level and prevents any cavitation.
The KVTW LN and KVXW LN are supplied as wafer type valves and the KVTF LN and KVXF LN as flange type valves.
Top-entry ball segment valve, wafer and flanged design
The wafer and flanged valves are characterised by easy installation due to their short length, low weight and small space requirements.
The unique system of a shaft with a clamping coupling was developed by Somas for backlash-free torque transmission and enables extremely precise control behaviour.
Somas ball segment valves in these nominal diameters are produced in the “top entry” version.
The shaft is seated in the housing and gland sleeve.
The seat, which is available in three different materials (PTFE, PTFE 53 and HiCo), is pressed against the ball segment by spring elements.
